Psychological Therapy
We may find it helpful to talk our problems through with someone close to us but, sometimes, friends and family can not help us and we need to speak to a professional therapist. Psychological, or talking therapies, allow people the opportunity to explore their thoughts, feelings and behaviour in a safe environment. If we understand where our thoughts and feelings come from we can explore alternative approaches to live in a more meaningful and secure way.
Talking therapies can help people with:
-
Anxiety
-
Depression
-
Low self esteem
-
Stress
-
Emotional management difficulties
-
Trauma - sexual, physical and emotional abuse
-
Problem solving skills
-
Relationship difficulties
-
Issues surrounding offending behaviour
-
Understanding and managing Personality Disorder diagnosis
-
Bereavement and Grief
What To Expect
Not knowing what to expect in therapy can be worrying. I will always aim to create a sense of safety where you can be open about what you are struggling with.
Following your initial contact, I will offer you a free consultation either by telephone or online. At this consultation, we will discuss why you are wanting therapy. It is also your chance to see if you feel comfortable talking and working with me.
In our first full session we will be talking about the experiences that led you to seek professional support. I will explain the therapy options available and we will decide which option is best for you. Together, we will identify the changes you want to make, and plan how to achieve these in a way that makes you feel empowered and safe.
Therapy I offer:
-
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)
-
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
-
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR)
Your circumstances will determine which therapy is best for you.
