Dr Laura Challinor

Dr Laura Challinor commenced her career in 2013 and qualified as a Registered Psychologist in 2019. Laura has experience working within the field of forensic psychology in a variety of settings, including low; medium and high secure hospitals, and working with youth offending services. Laura has experience of providing Forensic Psychological Risk Assessments and expert testimony, specialising in individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), intellectual disabilities and other comorbid presentations.

Laura also provides clients with individual and group based therapies, and has skills of adapting these interventions in line with service user's cognitive functioning. Laura's therapy experience incorporates:

Her specialism is with men who have engaged in harmful sexual behaviour, or have thoughts of engaging in such behaviour. Laura currently works in the Offender Personality Disorder (OPD) pathway at HMP Whatton within the ACORN Service. This is a collaborative service between the National Health Service (NHS) and Her Majesty's Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) providing a specialist service for individuals convicted of sexual offences with problematic personality traits who are considered 'stuck' in the prison system.
